Our work spans multiple regions, each with its own unique challenges and opportunities. By collaborating with local communities, governments, and institutions, we help build resilient societies that embrace peace, justice, and dialogue. Below are the countries where our impact is most profound.

Ethiopia 🇪🇹

The University for Peace (UPEACE) has been actively engaged in Ethiopia, focusing on promoting peace, good governance, and sustainable development through academic programs, research, and capacity-building initiatives. UPEACE’s work in Ethiopia is aligned with the country’s development priorities, especially in areas such as conflict resolution, human rights, climate change, and governance. The organization collaborates with national and regional institutions, including the African Union and the Ethiopian government, to address key challenges related to interstate conflict, post-conflict reconstruction, and human rights violations. UPEACE has also been instrumental in providing training programs, workshops, and policy dialogues, aimed at strengthening Ethiopia’s human capital in peacebuilding and governance.

Additionally, UPEACE supports Ethiopian peace initiatives through research and policy advocacy, with a particular focus on enhancing the country’s capacity to respond to regional security challenges in the Horn of Africa. The university’s involvement in Ethiopia extends to providing tailored educational opportunities for professionals, diplomats, and civil society actors, equipping them with the skills to engage in effective conflict mediation, humanitarian action, and sustainable development. Through these efforts, UPEACE plays a vital role in shaping Ethiopia’s peace agenda and contributing to the broader goal of regional stability and socioeconomic development in the Horn of Africa.


Somalia 🇸🇴

The University for Peace (UPEACE) has been actively engaged in Somalia to support peacebuilding, education, and development efforts in the country. Through its work, UPEACE has contributed significantly to the building of the UPEACE Mogadishu campus, a key milestone aimed at creating a center of academic excellence in peace, governance, and development for Somali and African students. The establishment of this campus is part of UPEACE’s long-term commitment to enhancing higher education in conflict-affected regions and promoting peaceful societies. This campus provides a platform for Somali students and international scholars to engage in advanced studies and research focused on peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and development in the Horn of Africa and beyond.

In a further step to strengthen Somalia’s human capital in peace and governance, UPEACE, in collaboration with the Somali government, has been awarded presidential grants for 100 Doctoral Scholarships. These scholarships are aimed at fostering a new generation of Somali scholars and leaders who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Somalia and the broader African continent. The scholarships are designed to support the academic and professional development of Somali nationals who wish to pursue doctoral studies in peace studies, governance, international law, human rights, and sustainable development. Through these initiatives, UPEACE seeks to contribute to capacity building and the long-term stability of Somalia by producing qualified professionals dedicated to advancing peace, security, and governance in the region.


Uganda 🇺🇬

The University for Peace (UPEACE) Africa Programme has been actively engaged in Uganda through various initiatives aimed at fostering peace, security, and development in the region. UPEACE partners with local institutions, government bodies, and civil society organizations to deliver programs that enhance conflict resolution, good governance, and sustainable development. The university has focused on capacity building, offering short courses, training workshops, and academic programs tailored to address Uganda’s unique peacebuilding challenges, including post-conflict reconstruction, social cohesion, and youth empowerment. These programs are designed to equip Ugandan leaders, policymakers, and community activists with the tools and knowledge needed to promote peace and development at local and national levels.

One of UPEACE’s notable collaborations in Uganda is with the Uganda Police Force, particularly through partnerships with the Police Training College. UPEACE has provided specialized training in human rights, conflict resolution, and community policing to enhance the effectiveness of Uganda’s law enforcement in promoting peace and security. This collaboration aims to build the capacity of police officers to handle community-based conflicts, human rights violations, and law enforcement challenges while maintaining respect for citizens’ rights. By strengthening the skills of law enforcement officials, UPEACE plays a key role in supporting Uganda’s broader efforts to enhance security and build trust between the police and the communities they serve.


Senegal 🇸🇳

The University for Peace (UPEACE) Africa Programme has been actively engaged in Senegal through various initiatives aimed at promoting peace, governance, and sustainable development across the region. UPEACE has partnered with local institutions, governments, and international organizations to offer tailored training programs, workshops, and research projects that address key challenges such as conflict resolution, human rights, and youth empowerment. These efforts have included organizing seminars on peacebuilding, supporting gender equality initiatives, and strengthening civil society participation in peace processes. Through these activities, UPEACE works to strengthen Senegal’s role as a peace leader in West Africa, emphasizing the importance of inclusive governance and the rule of law.

Additionally, UPEACE has focused on research and policy development in Senegal, contributing to the development of evidence-based policies that address local challenges such as climate change, security, and social cohesion. The Programme also works to foster greater regional cooperation, promoting cross-border collaboration in areas like conflict management and humanitarian action. By engaging with both governmental and non-governmental sectors, UPEACE supports Senegal in its commitment to sustainable peace, stability, and development, positioning the country as a key player in regional and continental peace efforts.


Kenya 🇰🇪

The University for Peace (UPEACE) Africa Programme has been actively engaged in Kenya through its education and capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing peace, governance, and development in the region. UPEACE collaborates with local stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and international partners, to address key challenges such as conflict resolution, human rights, climate change, and sustainable development. The Programme offers tailored short courses, workshops, and seminars, providing knowledge and practical tools for professionals and practitioners involved in peacebuilding and governance. These initiatives aim to strengthen the capacity of individuals and organizations in Kenya to effectively address social, political, and environmental issues.

In addition to its educational programs, UPEACE also engages in research projects that focus on conflict prevention, humanitarian action, and the promotion of human rights in Kenya. The Programme supports policy development and advocacy aimed at enhancing the role of local communities in governance and peace processes. UPEACE’s work in Kenya also includes supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to peace, justice, and strong institutions. Through its partnerships and local outreach, UPEACE is contributing to transformative change in Kenya, fostering a culture of peace, social cohesion, and sustainable development.

Cameroon 🇨🇲

The University for Peace (UPEACE) has been actively engaged in Cameroon through various initiatives aimed at enhancing peace, governance, and sustainable development across the region. UPEACE collaborates with local institutions and international partners to promote peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and capacity development for governmental and non-governmental stakeholders. A notable collaboration is with the Pan African Institute for Development (PAID), which focuses on empowering individuals and organizations in Central Africa with the tools to address socio-political and economic challenges. Through joint programs, UPEACE works to enhance local governance systems, peace education, and regional integration, thus contributing to the overall development agenda of the region. These partnerships also extend to critical sectors such as human rights, environmental sustainability, and international law.

In addition, UPEACE cooperates with the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC), a prestigious institution specializing in diplomacy and international relations. This collaboration allows for academic exchange, research initiatives, and the development of specialized training programs aimed at enhancing diplomatic skills, international negotiations, and policy analysis. Through this partnership, UPEACE provides academic expertise and professional training to aspiring diplomats, civil servants, and peace professionals in Cameroon, equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate complex global and regional challenges. The joint efforts between UPEACE, PAID, and IRIC reflect a shared commitment to fostering peace, governance, and development within Cameroon and across the Central African region.
